Pablove and Wheeltags

In this day and age, it is becoming impossible not to be associated by the shameless ravages of cancer. In the Wheeltags clan alone, we have been touched by the shocking loss of grandparents, a brother-in-law and a father-in-law. Painfull and without consideration of age, race, creed or passion of life, the loss of a loved one to cancer is heartbreaking on the best of days.

When we were contacted by Rory Wilson of DangerBird Records to print some custom Wheeltags for their team, we were happy to oblige. Wheeltags doesn't make it a habit to google our clients, so we guided Rory through the custom process and moved on with our business, bike-riding lives. When the artwork was approved, our fingers were itching to learn more about "Pablove". With the striking pink hearts and hand holding figures, our creative brains were tweaked and we had to learn more.

When stumbling across the PABLOg we immediately contacted Rory with an offer to do, well, more. The Pablove Foundation was created by Jeff Castelaz in honor of his son Pablo, who lost his battle to bilateral Wilm's Tumor at the age of 6 on June 27th, 2009. Our hearts were breaking as we read Jeff's open and raw blog. What started as an initiative to spread more awareness about children's cancer has spread into his own passion for cycling and music.

Heading across the states on a bike train of love, Jeff will be riding across the US on his two wheels with lots and lots of support along the way. His route is meant to bring more awareness to children's cancer and encourage people to join in the fight! With merch and sponsorship opportunities to help support the ride, the site is full of good stuff, even some Lance Armstrong bits to widen the cause. We were pleased to do our small part in assisting Jeff to trick out his bike with Pablove Wheeltags bits. We wish him and his supporters well along their long southern route.

Below is a pic of a tricked out Pablove bike.

Wheeltags Makes ZedTech Custom Decals for Triathlete Mag test ride!

Jay Prasuhn for Triathlete Magazine puts Zipp's uber awesome ZedTech product on the couch! Since Wheeltags is Zipp's custom decal partner, we loved to read Jay's comments about the on-line design feature we built for Zipp within the ZedTech "build your wheel" experience. We were happy to run the presses for his special decals, but we got really geeked out when we saw the stunning photos of his tricked out ride. Read some of the details from his article below:

"Zipp invited me to experience the ZedTech customer's experience, and the fun part is picking the look of your wheels. At the website, you can select every aspect of the wheel; decal color, hub external cap colors, bearings (steel or ceramic) and spoke nipple color.

Designing your decal design is all you. You can use a full color palate to determine the colors of the individual Z-I-P-P lettering, background and Advanced Technology Group lettering underneath. Zipp marketing manager Andy Paskins tells me he's seen some "interesting" designs so far. I found it very political of him not to make any judgments. All I could do was hope the crew at Zipp didn't laugh at my design idea, whatever I came up with.

I have bikes of mostly a red or blue motif, so I wanted something that would work on either bike. I also went to the University of Arizona, so I thought, why not an Arizona Wildcats color concept? I chose a red inner lettering with blue trim and white ATG lettering. The hubs would be red, spoke nipples a simple grey, and went with a simple standard bearing setup. The wheels? It would be the Craig Alexander Special, the same wheelset he used to take his Hawaii Ironman title last fall: a 404 front and an 808 rear. "

Sweetness.

Wheeltags and Zipp Speed Weaponry form custom decal partnership ZEDTECH customers can create custom decals for wheels

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wheeltags and Zipp Speed Weaponry form custom decal partnership
ZEDTECH customers can create custom decals for wheels

CARMEL, IN and SPEEDWAY, IN - 24 November 2008 - Wheeltags and Zipp today announced a partnership that allows Zipp's ZEDTECH customers the ability to create fully custom decals for their custom wheels. Wheeltags will handle the creation of custom ZEDTECH decals, as well as the unique flash feature within Zipp's completely re-designed ZEDTECH website.

"We couldn't be more pleased about this partnership and the chance to provide the most respected wheel manufacturer, and their customers, with truly unique, customer designed decals," said Kevin Koval, Director of Sales and one of the three owners of Wheeltags. "It is the perfect mix of our decal expertise and Zipp's legendary customer service."

The new custom decal feature within the ZEDTECH website provides each customer their own "Co-Design Tool Kit" to select different colors within the Zipp ZEDTECH decal, view them on their chosen wheel sizes and even "spin" the wheels. Information about the decals, along with the other specifics of a customer's ZEDTECH custom wheel order, will be stored in a unique user ID. This allows for a streamlined transfer of vital information from Zipp dealers directly to the Zipp World Headquarters.

To get the most of Zipp's custom decal options, ZEDTECH customers using the website can select from two different pricing levels. The first pricing level, $160 (US) for one wheel, includes complete color customization within the CMYK spectrum. The second pricing level, $220 (US) for one wheel, allows ZEDTECH customers to choose between complete color customization as
well as a lighter/thinner OR reflective material.

"ZEDTECH represents the absolute pinnacle in custom performance race wheels. With options for Si3N4 silicon nitride ceramic bearings, rim laminates, spoke nipple colors, flange cap colors, and end cap colors, adding custom decals was the next logical step to meet the demands of the most discerning bicyclist on earth. With all of these options available ZEDTECH customers can truly have a one-of-a-kind wheelset." said Andy Paskins, Marketing Manager for Zipp Speed Weaponry in Speedway, IN.
